Sample Saturday: dirt.

As you know, several weeks ago I emailed a bunch of companies whose products I really wanted to try. This small company called dirt. was on my list, because I heard they make heavenly body scrubs.

Since a lot of my emails go unanswered I decided not to pester them when I still hadn’t heard from them 3 weeks later. To my surprise, the sample just showed up at my doorstep one day!

I received my sample in a small plastic jar with a convenient screw top, I believe it’s the same size as what people previously got in their Birchboxes. The scrub itself is quite pricey, so the sample value is fairly high for what it is: some shea butter, salt and a few oils mixed together. So you could say this is a kitchen-made product, but who has the time to make their own skincare these days? With so many chemicals in our daily life it’s nice to see something clean and pure for a change.

Following the directions I found on their website I scooped a generous amount of scrub and vigorously massaged all over my body, giving some extra attention to my dry knees and elbows. After washing it off my skin smelled like butter and felt very moisturized, to the point of being almost sticky. With all of that oil on my skin I didn’t even need to use a body moisturizer!

The verdict: All of those raving reviews are totally justified. I really enjoyed using my sample, however $45 for a jar of body scrub is a bit out of my budget right now. I might consider purchasing it in the future if I can find a good discount or a promo code.

Disclosure: I received complimentary samples from the company per my own request and was never asked to write this review. Individual results or experiences may vary.
